Hello Families,

Our students have been ending their year with many fun activities and hands-on projects! Thank you so much to all of our parents who helped out at Field Day.  Our class had a fantastic time, and we were so lucky with the weather.  Below you will find many pictures of all the fun we had.  Over the recent weeks, we visited the science museum, had the first grade play, attended a buzz assembly, and went to a music demonstration from the band, chorus, and strings teachers for next year! We have been busy fourth graders over here!

In class, we began to present our Social Studies state projects and have learned so much from our classmates.  I am very impressed with the projects I am seeing and the obvious effort that is going into these presentations.  Since we have completed our math curriculum, students are spending time in class to review concepts by creating a math game.  We will spend time making these in class this week, and next week we will have the opportunity to play each one.  I am already seeing such a variety of ideas and love the creativity!  In Science and Social Studies, students are wrapping up their study on light and are completing our LAST region, the west.  We have “traveled” across the United States and have learned so much about our country.  In ELA, we are finishing our last few weeks of spelling and reading our anthology story.  This week, we read a narrative non-fiction about Owen and Mzee, a turtle and hippo. Next week will be our last full week of our Journey’s curriculum.  In writing, students are completing a narrative, expository pieces, and a letter to their 5th grade teachers.

Other upcoming events that we will be attending will be our battle of the books competition with Mrs. Daly on Friday and then the 4th grade winners will compete against the 5th graders next Tuesday!  We will also have a speaker on Monday come to visit the 4th graders to speak about his experience in China! Overall, we are wrapping up end of the year activities and enjoying our time together as a class!  Below are some questions for conversation with your child over the weekend.  Thank you for reading!
